2. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and maintain your memorial accounts.
  • To send verification emails, password resets, and guardian invitations.
  • To process payments for premium plans (when applicable).
  • To prevent abuse and protect the platform.
  • To improve the platform based on anonymous usage patterns.

3. Memorial Privacy Controls

You control every memorial you create or guard:

  • Public: Visible to everyone and searchable.
  • Unlisted: Only accessible via direct link.
  • Private: Only accessible with an invitation or access code.

Guardians approve all contributions before they appear. You can hide, edit, or delete any content at any time.

4. Data Retention & "Forever"

We take the word "forever" seriously. Memorial content is stored with redundant backups and designed for long-term preservation. If a memorial is inactive for an extended period, we will attempt to contact the guardians before any action. You may request deletion of your data at any time.

5. Your Rights (GDPR & POPIA)

  • Access: Request a copy of all data we hold about you.
  • Correction: Update any inaccurate information.
  • Deletion: Request complete deletion of your account and memorials.
  • Portability: Export your memorial data in a standard format.
  • Objection: Opt out of marketing communications.

6. Security

We use HTTPS encryption, secure password hashing (bcrypt), and role-based access controls. We do not store plain-text passwords. Access to memorial data is strictly limited to guardians and invited contributors.

7. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party tracking cookies for advertising. You may disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings.
